The China Import and Export Fair, founded on April 25, 1957, is held annually in Guangzhou in spring and autumn. It is jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, and hosted by the China Foreign Trade Center. It is the longest, highest level, largest scale, most comprehensive international trade event in Chinese history, with the most diverse range of products, the largest number of buyers attending, the widest distribution of countries and regions, and the best transaction results. It is known as the "First Exhibition in China". The Canton Fair offers flexible and diverse trade modes, including not only traditional sample based transactions but also online trade fairs. The Canton Fair focuses on export trade and also engages in import business. It can also carry out various forms of economic and technological cooperation and exchanges, as well as business activities such as inspection, insurance, transportation, advertising, and consulting. The Canton Fair Complex is located on Pazhou Island in Guangzhou, with a total construction area of 1.1 million square meters. The indoor exhibition hall has a total area of 338000 square meters, and the outdoor exhibition area is 43600 square meters. The fourth phase of the Canton Fair Exhibition Hall project, the 132nd Canton Fair (also known as the 2022 Autumn Fair), will be put into use. After completion, the total exhibition area of the Canton Fair Exhibition Hall will reach 620000 square meters, making it the world's largest exhibition complex. Among them, the indoor exhibition area is 504000 square meters, and the outdoor exhibition area is 116000 square meters. On October 31, 2024, the 136th Canton Fair Pet Exhibition opened in Guangzhou.
