Place the pad in the area where the dog deems his place to go potty. Once he does not miss the pad, start moving the pad closer and closer to the door the dog is to exit for potty breaks.
When placing pads in a crate, make sure the pad is towards the back (away from the crate door) so they are not having to walk over the pad to exit the crate.
If the dog pees off the pad, use the pad to wipe up some of the pee so that the dog’s scent will be on the pad.
Remember, pads are not the answer to potty training. They exist for humans to reduce the mess made on the actual floor.
